The Supreme Court granted bail on Friday to Vernon Gonsalves and Arun Ferreira, who have been imprisoned since August 2018.
A bench led by Justices Aniruddha Bose and Sudhanshu Dhulia granted bail to Gonsalves and Ferreira, citing the fact that they had been detained for nearly five years.
“Considering the fact that almost five years have elapsed, we are satisfied they have made out a case for bail,” they said.
In addition, the order stated, “The allegations are serious, no doubt, but for that reason alone, bail cannot be denied to them.”
