Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and other party leaders— who led the Kisan Marches started from 3 Sikh religious Takhts to Chandigarh—on Thursday were detained at Mullanpur and Zirakpur borders by Chandigarh police and released later.
They were on the way to hand over a memorandum demanding revocation of the recently passed Agricultural Acts, to the Central government through the Punjab Governor. After getting released from the Sector 17 police station, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that they wanted to give memorandum, but instead of that they were arrested and lathi-charged. He said that the fight against these bills will continue.
Before this Sukhbir Singh Badal led the Kisan March from Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Sri Amritsar Sahib, Harsimrat Kaur Badal would led the march from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo and Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra from Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib at Sri Anandpur Sahib. Marches started in the morning and reached Chandigarh borders in the evening, from where the SAD leaders detained.
