The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned the midnight police raid on a village Gurdwara in Boha police station of Mansa district asserting “the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is committing sacrilege after sacrilege with impunity”.
In a statement here, senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said “It is shocking to witness drunk policemen jumping the wall of a Gurdwara in full uniform with weapons and shoes”. He said even more shocking was the fact that after entering the Gurdwara the police personnel started hurling abuses at the ‘sewadars’ and beat them mercilessly. “Even a fourteen year old minor boy was not spared and sustained injuries”. Dr Cheema said the people had yet not forgotten the sacrilegious incident of police entry and firing that took place in Gurdwara Akal Bunga Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi some weeks back. He said even though the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib had categorically held Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann responsible for this sacrilegious act, the AAP government under his leadership was continuing with such heinous acts.
Dr Cheema said a high level judicial inquiry should be instituted to fix responsibility for this act of sacrilege and strict action should be taken against all the culprits. He also demanded the chief minister take moral responsibility of this second consecutive forceful police entry into Gurdwaras and step down.
