RPSC faces scrutiny over irregularities in ATP recruitment

Another questionable appointment has come to light during the Congress government’s rule. Applicants claim that the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has initiated the documentation verification process without releasing the final answer key. They allege that the Department of Urban Planning has also started the process of appointing selected candidates clandestinely. Last year, recruitment was announced for the position of Assistant Town Planner (ATP) in the Urban Planning Department, and the exam took place on June 16 this year.
After the removal of the Model Code of Conduct, the commission immediately released the results on December 7, announcing the interim list of 105 candidates for 43 positions. Subsequently, the verification of documents for these candidates has been completed, and on December 21, the final selection and appointment of 43 candidates out of the 105 will be made.
According to the model answer key, some candidates claimed that their scores were higher than the announced cutoff. However, they were not selected. A total of 7,711 candidates filled out forms for the exam, with only 1,620 actually appearing for it. After the release of the model answer key, objections were raised, but along with the resolution of objections, the final answer key has not been released, as mentioned by the candidates. The guidelines issued by the commission also state the intention to announce results based on the final answer key.
The final decision is considered valid by experts Sanjay Kumar Shrotriya, the chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, stated, “When candidates take the exam, they are provided with a carbon copy of the answer sheet. This allows them to see how many of their answers were correct or incorrect.”
He mentioned that the Rajasthan Public Service Commission releases the answer key, and if a candidate raises an objection to any question after this, a panel of experts is formed to reevaluate these questions. The decision made by these experts is considered final. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission does not play a role in this. The commission exercises complete vigilance in releasing the results.
