Rohit Sharma’s Injury Not a Concern, Says India’s Pacer Akash Deep

As India gears up for the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, fast bowler Akash Deep shared updates on Rohit Sharma’s injury and provided insights into his bowling approach and performance improvements.

Rohit Sharma’s Injury

To begin with, Akash Deep addressed concerns about Rohit Sharma’s injury during a recent practice session. Speaking confidently, he stated, “Injuries happen when you play cricket. This is not a matter of concern.” His remarks aimed to reassure fans ahead of the crucial Test.

Valuable Feedback from Senior Players

Moving forward, Akash Deep credited Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their guidance during net sessions. Their feedback, according to him, has significantly improved his confidence and performance.

“Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s feedback regarding my bowling is really helpful,” he explained. “They both helped us in the nets, whether it is me or Harshit Rana, and that made it easy for us to bowl. When there are not many thoughts running in the mind, we can perform with a free mind in the match.”

Emphasis on Team Role

Additionally, Akash Deep discussed his role within the team. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline in his bowling and avoiding unnecessary short deliveries.

“My role in the team is to bowl at an accurate line and length. I have been asked to bowl very few short balls,” he said. “There is a lot of help we get from the ball, and I try to utilize it instead of bowling short balls. I only enjoy bowling good balls to the opponent.”

Prepared for the Challenge

In conclusion, Akash Deep expressed his readiness for the Melbourne Test. By incorporating feedback from senior players and focusing on his specific role, he aims to deliver a strong performance. With these preparations in place, he appears confident about contributing to the team’s success in the upcoming match.
