Rebels reshape political chessboard in Rajasthan

In this year’s state elections, rebels disrupted the game for both Congress and BJP candidates in many places. While some rebels won, many others lost, and due to them, the official candidates couldn’t secure a victory. The third candidate has won the battle between the rebels.
Although 5 rebels of the BJP have won the elections, Congress rebels have not won a single seat.

BJP rebels’ performance in the assembly elections
Yunus Khan, the former minister from Deedwana, contested the election as a BJP rebel and secured a victory with 2392 votes. Similarly, Ravindra Singh Bhati contested from Shiv and won with 3950 votes in a quadrangular contest. Chandrabhan Singh Akya, the BJP MLA from Chittorgarh, defeated the official BJP candidate Narpat Singh Rajvi with 6823 votes. From Barmer, Priyanka Choudhary won with 13,337 votes, and from Sanchore, former MLA Jeevaram Choudhary secured a victory with 4671 votes. However, Kailash Meghwal, contesting as a rebel from Shahpura Bhilwara against the official BJP candidate Lalaram Bairwa, lost with 34,783 votes, even though he was considered a strong contender.

Congress rebels faced defeat in these elections
Meanwhile, rebels considered close to Ashok Gehlot in Congress, Joharilal Meena from Rajgarh-Laxmangarh, Alok Beniwal from Shahpura, Jaipur, Virendra Beniwal from Lunkaransar, Ramchandra Saradhana from Viratnagar, Mahesh Moradia, son of MLA from Dhod, Habibur Rahman from Nagaur, and Gopal Baheti from Pushkar couldn’t win in the elections.
Similarly, rebels close to Sachin Pilot – Bairwa, Rakesh Boyat, Kailash Meena, Karuna Ashok Chandak, and Fateh Khan were not able to win in these assembly elections.
The emergence of third candidates winning in the rebel fight adds a dynamic element to the election outcome, emphasizing the complexities within party dynamics and the diverse choices made by voters.
