Rajasthan Roadways Workers’ Protest Demands 11-Point Agenda

Employees of the roadways department staged a protest at the depot campus, presenting their 11-point demands. The protest was carried out under the “Dhol Bajao, Sarkaar Jagaao” resolution. This protest was led by Harinarayan Swami, the association’s president. The demonstration saw the participation of various organizations under the United Front, including ETAK, CITU, INTUC, Association, and the Retired Employee Welfare Committee. The protest is a part of the “Save Roadways, Save Employment” campaign, and is the seventh phase with the resolve to fulfil their 11-point demands.
It’s worth noting that during the 2018 legislative elections, assurances were made in the election manifesto to fulfil the demands related to roadways and employee welfare. The workers are now protesting, urging the state government to fulfil these promises, including implementing the demands, disbursing pensions and salaries on the first working day of each month, purchasing 2,500 new buses for public travel, and filling over 11,000 vacant positions. During the protest, several employees, including Shyopal Ram, Devendra Kumar, Sultan Singh, Jagannath Sharma, Om Prakash Sharma, Bajrang Lal Chhipa, Subhash Meem, Babulal Sharma, Radheshyam Sharma, Ramanand Sharma, Babulal Singh, and Kailash Chandra Sharma, were present. The Roadways unions in Rajasthan initiated a protest in 2023 under the “Save Roadways, Save Employment” campaign through the United Front.
