The Rajasthan Congress will stage protests across all district headquarters in response to recent notices on Saturday from the Income Tax Department and the freezing of the party’s bank accounts.
Swarnim Chaturvedi, General Secretary and spokesperson of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, criticized the BJP-led central government, alleging continuous assaults on democracy and democratic institutions in the nation.
Chaturvedi announced that district Congress committees would organize public demonstrations at all district headquarters in Rajasthan on Saturday, with the participation of senior leaders, office bearers, and party workers.
He denounced the freezing of Congress party bank accounts as part of a deliberate strategy by the central government. Chaturvedi highlighted that the Income Tax Department had issued notices demanding a payment of ₹1,823.08 crore, aiming to weaken the Congress ahead of the general elections.
The Congress had previously received fresh notices from the Income Tax Department, demanding the payment of ₹1,823.08 crore. The party accused the ruling BJP of engaging in “tax terrorism” to financially cripple the opposition party in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
Last month, the party’s main bank accounts were frozen over an income tax demand of ₹210 crore.
