Railway Ministry approves Medta-Pushkar link, which will result in trade boost

The Railway Ministry has given its nod for the construction of the Medta-Pushkar and Medta-Ras railway lines in the state, as confirmed by a sanction letter issued by the Railway Board. This decision comes after a three-decade-long demand for a direct railway line from Medta city to Ajmer, and a longstanding request for a railway line from Medta to Pushkar spanning 51.34 kilometres.

Former Rajasamand MP and current Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari played a crucial role in initiating discussions on the Medta-Pushkar railway line during her tenure as the MP of Rajasamand. Three months ago, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Diya Kumari about the approval for both the Medta-Pushkar and Medta-Ras railway lines. The Railway Board has now officially approved these projects through two letters, with a timeline of 3 years for the completion of the Medta-Pushkar project and 4 years for the Medta-Ras project.

The total expenditure for both projects will amount to 1680.60 crores, covering 102.746 kilometres of new railway lines. The projects will see the construction of 133.037 kilometres of railway tracks and the utilisation of 582.15 hectares of land for railway tracks and stations.

The Medta-Pushkar railway line, with a length of 51.346 kilometres, will have six railway stations, including Medta City (Katyasani), Bhainsrda Kalan, Riyan Badi, Kod, Naand, and Pushkar railway stations. The project, estimated at approximately 733.64 crores, has allocated a three-year timeframe for completion.
