Amidst the conflict between PM Narendra Modi and Congress key leader Rahul Gandhi,over each other’s manifesto, the former congress leader vowed to implement caste census if came back to the power. At the Social justice conclave held on Wednesday in Delhi.
Talking about the caste census, Rahul Gandhi asserted that this is an important step as it will help the people in assessing the current situation.
He further emphasized, that caste census isn’t just the survey, it will also consist of economic and institutional survey. “After 70 years, it is an important step, we should assess what is the situation now and what direction we need to take. We will implement this… Don’t think the caste census is just a survey of castes. We will also add an economic and institutional survey to it” he further said.
He also mocked the critics of the caste survey saying those who consider themselves deshbhakt are scared of the caste census.
Further, the congress leader also took a U-turn on wealth survey remark. Emphasizing that he only wanted to know about amount of injustice the country is currently facing. “I have not said we will take action yet. I am just saying let’s find out how much injustice has been done.”
Attacking Narendra Modi Rahul Gandhi said “Look at how Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted the moment I said let’s test how much injustice has been done. They are saying this is an attempt to break down the country. Through the X-ray (wealth survey), we will get to know the problem.”
