Rahul Gandhi to hold rally in Kolar on 5 April

According to party state president D K Shivakumar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will launch the party’s nationwide “Satyamev Jayate” agitation on April 5 from Kolar, the same city where he made the comment about the Modi surname that led to his criminal defamation conviction and the removal of his membership in Parliament.
During a joint news conference with senior party leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma, the KPCC leader made this statement.
“Rahul Gandhi’s Kolar address was the catalyst for the disqualification controversy. On April 5, Rahul Gandhi will come to Kolar and commence his Satyameva Jayate agitation from there, which will go across the country,” Shivakumar said, adding, “We asked him to begin from here. He has consented, and arrangements are being made. In front of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders, Gandhi would deliver a “message of change from the very soil of Kolar,” he said.
On March 23, Gandhi was sentenced to two years in jail by a court in Gujarat’s Surat in a 2019 criminal defamation case.
