Punjab transport workers Union PROTESTS delayed meeting with Chief Minister

The meeting between the Punjab Roadways, Punjab Bus, and PRTC Contract Workers Union and the Chief Minister was scheduled, as a result, the union representatives reached Chandigarh, but instead of the meeting, a letter for the next date was issued. This letter was rejected by the union on the spot. The union has decided to burn copies of the meeting at the gate of the Dipo on February 9.

Providing information, Kamal Kumar, Resham Singh Gill, Shamsher Singh, Baljeet Singh, Harkesh Kumar, Jagtar Singh, Gurpreet Singh Pannu, and Baljinder Singh said that before the government was formed, promises were made to the transport employees on a large scale, but no meaningful solution has been found to date. Angry with the continuous action, the employees of the Transport Department, taking a firm decision, said that government buses would not be taken to government rallies being held by the Punjab government and rallies would be strongly opposed.

Along with this, only route duty will be provided by Punjab Bus, PRTC employees while providing transport facilities to people. Along with this, a discount of more than 52 passengers in the buses was given. Now this discount will not be available because the union was hoping that the Chief Minister of Punjab would come up with a concrete solution including bringing new buses but it did not happen.

The union said that now a 3-day strike will be held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Punjab on February 13, 14, and 15 and will also participate in the nationwide strike on February 16. During this time, the responsibility of loss of life and property will be of the Punjab government and senior officials of the department.
