Punjab BJP chief Jakhar criticizes AAP for taking credit on national schemes

Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s attempt to claim credit for national schemes during a media address on Thursday. He accused the AAP of using the Atta Dal scheme for political mileage, asserting undue credit-seeking.
Expressing concerns about environmental issues, the spokesperson highlighted the government’s failure to curb stubble burning. Jakhar emphasized the poor governance reflected in the current situation despite earlier assurances from the AAP that Punjab would be free from stubble burning.
Questioning the government’s commitment to agricultural diversification, Jakhar raised concerns about inadequate financial aid for this cause, casting doubts on the administration’s ability to tackle significant state challenges.
This criticism from the BJP contrasts with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s previous commitment, where he and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann took responsibility for stubble burning and pledged to address it within a year. Kejriwal had expressed confidence in curbing farm fires, promising collaborative measures with farmers.
With political tensions rising, attention remains on the AAP government’s capability to confront the issues raised by the BJP and fulfill previous pledges regarding stubble burning and pollution control in Punjab.
Sunil Jakhar said that another big scam is about to happen with Punjab, in which, as a habit, the Aam Aadmi Party’s government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, wants to take credit for everything. In this, during the flood, they had put their photos on the relief material. Jakhar said that they then built a clinic using the funds of the National Health Mission, and similarly, in the School Eminence, they are attempting to do the same. Efforts are underway to deliver wheat to households, claiming to follow the guidelines issued by the High Court to stop this fraud. They want to carry out another scam, which goes against the ideology of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Regarding the Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan Yojana, he said that it will continue, providing 5 kg of wheat. In this, 1 crore 41 lakh people in Punjab are beneficiaries, and the scheme will run for 5 years for the poor. There is concern not only about politics but also about fraud.
He mentioned that Rs 6 to 7 crore will be spent on transportation, and this will be hijacked by the owners of the transport companies. They aim to raise awareness among people about the challenges in the system.
When Kejriwal came to Patiala, he established a 10-bed ICU and stated that a health scheme has been launched in Punjab. However, there are reports that the system to keep small children warm in Rajindra Hospital has failed. Similarly, somewhere, the PM Garib Yojana has not been effective.
Regarding stubble burning, Jakhar said that the Punjab government has said in the Supreme Court that shutting down MSP is the solution, which is not correct. The responsibility lies with Bhagwant Mann, given the way the administrative system is failing in Punjab. The Agriculture Minister should speak up on this, but he has not responded to the issues related to Prali. On the allegations against Majithia, Jakhar said that when Majithia keeps speaking, the Chief Minister should investigate him.
