Pune Porsche Crash: Court Imposes Creative Bail Conditions On Builder’s Son

The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune granted bail to a 17-year-old shortly after his speeding Porsche collided with a bike, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. He reportedly hit the motorcycle with his vehicle at around 2:30 am in the Kalyani Nagar area.

The son of a builder was driving the car without a registration number. Following the incident, a case was registered against the accused under applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police also booked his father and lodged a case against the pub for serving alcohol to a minor.

According to reports, the board mandated that the minor work with the traffic police for 15 days and write a 300-word essay on road accidents as part of his bail conditions. This decision has ignited public outrage, with many calling for harsher measures.

“My client was detained in a matter registered at Yerwada police station. The honorable Court was kind enough to grant my client bail on certain conditions. We have complete faith in the investigation and shall continue to cooperate with the police agencies. My client is duty-bound to follow the stringent conditions of the Honorable Court. We shall continue to attend the proceedings and wait for the outcome of the investigation,” the minor’s advocate, Prashant Patil, told Hindustan Times.

The victims have been identified as 24-year-olds Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, both engineers from Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, they were on their way home from a party when the tragic accident occurred.

Alongside duties with the traffic police and writing an essay, the Juvenile Justice Board also mandated that the minor undergo proper treatment from a doctor to quit alcohol and receive psychiatric counseling.
