PSPCL Assistant Lineman refuses aid amidst protest

Mr. Vikramjeet Abohar, an Assistant Lineman at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), persisted in his hunger strike for the fourth consecutive day outside the main office of the electricity board in Patiala. Despite facing deteriorating health conditions due to the cold weather and prolonged fasting, Mr Vikramjeet Abohar remains steadfast in his demand for the release of regular salaries.

The prolonged hunger strike has taken a toll on Mr. Vikramjeet Abohar’s health, prompting regular medical check-ups. Following the advice of the medical examination team, he has been shifted to the hospital for glucose infusion to ensure his well-being. Despite recommendations for medical assistance, Mr. Vikramjeet Abohar has chosen to decline any form of medical aid.

The management has yet to take substantial steps to address the ongoing protest, which has entered its fourth day. Various labour unions, including the Old Pension Scheme Struggle Union led by District President Lakhveer Singh Patiala, Circle President Satnam Singh Patiala, and Agency Worker Union (IFFCO) Kashmir Singh Billa, along with Meeth President Satnam Singh Saneri and other members, have expressed their support for the ongoing struggle.

In future actions, families and a significant number of participants, including Commissioner Raj Kamboj, Harinder Harry, Kulbir Aulakh, Mitthu Singh Pedhni, Kulwinder Patiala, Suchit Kamboj, Aqbal Singh, Gursevak Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Jagdev Singh, and Krishan Singh, are expected to actively participate.

The protest has gained widespread attention, underscoring the urgency of management intervention to address the concerns raised by the protesting employees. The participating unions remain committed to supporting the cause until a resolution is reached.
