Protest March for reinstatement of relieved contractual employees

The Chandigarh Administration’s indecision and delaying tactics jeopardize the livelihoods of 1735 families, making the reinstatement of relieved contractual employees and the protection of those facing arbitrary termination paramount.

In a critical development, the All India State Federation of Government employees : held Protest Rally alongwith Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha & Other Union and Federations for an urgent plea for the resolution of job security issues affecting contractual employees and other common demands in Chandigarh. The arbitrary relief of employees demands swift action for reinstatement.

The Chandigarh Administration must address this pressing issue immediately to salvage the livelihoods of those affected before the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
The delay and lethargy exhibited by the Administration have placed the livelihoods of 1735 families at stake. Urgent and decisive policy decisions are required to protect the rights and jobs of contractual employees facing the looming threat of unjust termination by means of Regularization Policy or Job Security till retirement.

The constitutional rights of contractual employees, rooted in social security, equality, and security of tenure, remain unsecured due to a longstanding «Constitutional Anomaly» dating back to the formation of Chandigarh U.T. in 1966. Immediate attention is required to rectify this anomaly and provide the necessary protections. The incompetence of the Personnel Department in addressing concerns highlights the need for thoughtful decision-making.

The Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha advocates for job security through the formulation of a comprehensive policy, ensuring fair treatment and avoiding hasty and unjust decisions.
In the face of an unresolved situation, the Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha declares its intention to march towards Governor House, with families and children in tow. This powerful and decisive action underscores the gravity of the issue and the unwavering determination to secure the jobs of the 1735 contractual employees facing undue termination.

This urgent plea serves as a compelling call to action. Employee reinstatement and job security are not just concerns; they are immediate needs that demand the prompt and considerate attention of the Chandigarh Administration. Swift decision-making is crucial to avoid forceful litigations and ensure the well-being of affected families. The leadership of Federation of U.T.& M.C Employees,U.T.,S.S Federation, Chandigarh Services Federation, Electrical Power men and Horticulture Unions participated for common cause under the banner of Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha in Protest Rally held All India State Federation of Government employees.
