Prevent Yourself from Scam Calls with this AI Feature: Here’s How to Use it

AI-based voice call scams have emerged as a significant global issue, prompting Truecaller to unveil its latest defence mechanism, the AI Call Scanner, to safeguard users from falling victim to such scams.

Truecaller’s AI model analyzes the voice patterns in incoming calls in real-time, swiftly detecting potential scam calls and alerting users within seconds. This AI-driven technology listens to call recordings, identifying specific traits indicative of AI-generated calls, which may be challenging for the average person to discern.

To activate the AI Call Scanner, users simply tap on the bar below the caller’s name on the Truecaller dialer UI. The platform has meticulously trained its AI model to recognize distinct characteristics of AI voice calls, distinguishing them from human voices.

Initially available to Truecaller users in the US as part of the premium model, this feature is expected to roll out to users in other countries, including India, in the coming months. While this innovative tool is tailored for Android users due to its sophistication, it’s unlikely to be accessible to Apple users, despite its potential benefits.

Voice calls have become a preferred tool for malicious actors, posing a significant threat to unsuspecting individuals. While Caller ID helps identify spam calls, AI technology has enabled scammers to produce convincing calls. Hence, the introduction of AI-driven solutions like Truecaller’s AI Call Scanner is crucial in combating the evolving threat landscape posed by such advanced technologies.
