Possibility of heavy rainfall in Punjab, Haryana for next 3 days

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possibility of heavy rainfall in areas of Punjab and Haryana for the next two to three days.

Manmohan Singh, Director of the Meteorological Department, said, “The areas of Punjab and Haryana which are bordering states to Himachal Pradesh may receive heavy rains.” He also added that along with these areas, rainfall is also expected in Chandigarh as well.

“The temperature which is being recorded at 34 to 36 degrees Celsius in Punjab and Haryana will also see a decrease in the coming weeks,” he said.

It is worth acknowledging that Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been devastated by heavy rainfalls and cloudbursts and the regional weather department in Himachal Pradesh has also issued heavy rainfall alerts for several districts, including Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi among others for Monday.

On Monday morning, the regional weather department said, “Moderate to heavy rainfall at most places, with very heavy rainfall at a few places, is very likely to continue over the state. Possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, and Sirmaur.”

Residents in the area are advised to follow the instructions and not come out of their houses until necessary.
