A jewellery showroom owner sustained serious head injuries after a private security guard allegedly hit him with a hammer during a robbery, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, the accused guard, Pawan Das, has been arrested by New Friends Colony Police from Khagaria district in Bihar. The alleged robbery took place in the New Friends Colony area of southeast Delhi on Wednesday.
During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accused was under heavy debt, officials said.
“The showroom owner was seriously injured in the attack,” police stated. “After committing the crime, the accused guard escaped to Bihar. Police have recovered all the stolen valuables.”
