Police attach illegal properties of notorious drug peddler in Baramulla

In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, police in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir have taken action against the assets of a notorious drug peddler, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shah, hailing from Chanderseeran.

Shah, presently incarcerated in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, saw his properties seized by authorities. According to police sources, the attached properties include land measuring 6 marlas under survey No. 875 and the plinth of an under-construction poultry farm, collectively valued at lakhs of rupees.

The action was carried out under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to curbing the drug trade in the region. Detailing the rationale behind the attachment, police stated that the properties were identified as acquired through illicit means during investigations. They assert that the assets were seemingly procured from the proceeds of narcotic trafficking, implicating Shah in further criminal activity. This decisive move underscores the resolve of law enforcement agencies to dismantle the infrastructure supporting drug networks and disrupt the financial gains derived from such illicit activities.

As the authorities continue their efforts to combat the scourge of drug trafficking, such measures send a clear message that individuals involved in narcotics-related crimes will face severe consequences, including the confiscation of their ill-gotten assets.
