During checking at a high-security checkpoint near Dinanagar, a car carrying three individuals, including a woman, was apprehended by the police. They were found in possession of 2 pistols (32 bore), 2 live cartridges, 1.50 grams of heroin, and drug money amounting to 15,000 rupees. During interrogation, the individuals revealed that they had obtained these pistols from Mani Singh, also known as Maau, residing in Batala, who had acquired them from someone in Maharashtra. The police also arrested Mani Singh and his associates Mehtab Singh and Balraj Singh, seizing 7 pistols, 10 magazines, and 35 live cartridges from them.
It is reported that Mani Singh, among the arrested suspects, was involved in the murder of Shiv Sena leader Mukesh Nayar’s brother in 2020. Other arrested individuals also have multiple criminal cases registered against them. SSP Gurdaspur Harish Kumar Dayama stated that the apprehended woman’s name is Pema Doma, along with Kamaljeet Singh and Rupinder Singh. He mentioned that the arrested suspects had procured weapons from Maharashtra due to an ongoing feud with a gangster incarcerated in jail. Additionally, he noted that five of the apprehended individuals, excluding the woman, have previous records of various criminal cases, and among them, Mehtab Singh and Kamaljeet Singh are father and son.
