Police arrests 3 LeT terrorist associates in Baramulla

In a big success, police and security forces have apprehended three associates linked to the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Baramulla. The arrests were made following credible intelligence indicating their involvement in activities aimed at targeting security forces.

The identified individuals, Owais Ahmad Waza, Basit Fayaz Kaloo, and Faheem Ahmad Mir—all residents of Baramulla—were allegedly assisting and providing crucial information to LeT operatives with intentions to disrupt peace and security, particularly in light of upcoming elections. They were reportedly acting under the directives of handlers based across the border.

Upon receiving actionable intelligence, authorities swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the registration of a case (FIR No. 79/2024) under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station Baramulla.

The suspects were apprehended in Old Town Baramulla, and during the operation, three hand grenades were seized from their possession. This recovery underscores the gravity of their intentions and potential threat posed to security forces and civilian populations in the region.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing as security forces remain vigilant in thwarting any attempts to destabilize peace and security in Baramulla.
