Counter-intelligence unit of the Punjab Police arrested fugitive pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh’s close aide, Pappalpreet Singh, today from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.
Following their daring escape from a police dragnet in Jalandhar, the two stayed together all the time. After arriving in Hoshiarpur, they took various paths to escape. Their arrest was part of a joint operation of the Punjab Police and the Delhi Police’s special cell.
Amritpal Singh dodged the police, evaded them, and escaped on 18 March in the Jalandhar district. Both were using several vehicles and constantly changing their appearances to avoid arrest. Images that were circulated in the ensuing days made it clear that the Waris Punjab De chief had been travelling with his now-arrested close aide.
Amritpal Singh and his followers have been booked under numerous criminal charges, such as being responsible for creating disharmony among classes, attacking police personnel, attempting to murder, and creating problems for public servants in doing their work.
