As a step towards promoting infrastructure development, enhancing connectivity and making life easier in the region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, in the presence of Jharkhand’s chief minister Hemant Soren, inaugurated Deoghar Airport in Jharkhand.
PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore in Deoghar.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said, “We have dreamt of Deoghar airport for a long time, it’s being fulfilled now. These projects will make the lives of people easy. The development projects worth Rs 16,800 crores will improve connectivity, tourism and trade prospects of the state.”
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also said, “The dream of this airport which was visioned in 2010 has been fulfilled by PM Modi. It’s a matter of pride for us.”
However, to provide direct connectivity to Baba Baidyanath Dham, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Deoghar airport. Deoghar is an important religious place for devotees where lakhs of devotees come here to perform puja. It was constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore.
The airport’s terminal building is equipped to handle more than five lakh passengers annually. In addition, PM Modi also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several road projects worth over Rs 10,000 crore and two railway projects.
