Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the tragic deaths brought about by an explosion at a fireworks unit in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, close to Sivakasi. Twelve people were injured in the Thursday event, which resulted in the deaths of eight people—five of whom were women.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. During his visit, the minister inquired about the health conditions of the injured individuals from the attending doctors.
