PM Modi cannot be forced to take actions against India’s welfare: Vladimir Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received high appreciation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who asserted that he cannot be coerced or bullied into making decisions that are against India’s best interests.

“It is inconceivable to me that Modi could be coerced or bullied into doing anything or making any choices that would go against the interests of India and its citizens. I am aware of the pressure that exists. He and I, incidentally, never even bring this up.

He was reported by the Russian President’s Office at the Forum as stating, “I just look at what is happening from the outside, and sometimes, to be honest, I’m even surprised at his tough position on defending the national interests of the Indian state.”

Putin stated that the two countries’ relations have been developing progressively in all aspects, while highlighting their bilateral connections.

Putin responded, “I would like to say that relations between Russia and India are developing progressively in all directions, and the main guarantor of this is the policy pursued by Prime Minister Mr. Modi,” when asked about what the two countries might do to speed up the expansion of bilateral trade. He went on, “Last year it was 35 billion dollars per year, and in the first half of this year it was already 33.5 billion,” in reference to the two nations’ annual trade volume. “China, the US, India, Japan, and Russia are, let me remind you. according to purchasing power parity, the three biggest economies in the world. It would be appropriate for us to expand our commerce with India if, as the Russian President added, it approaches 200 billion this year with China.

Putin said that he would discuss the North-South Corridor with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and that India is interested in implementing such routes, according to the Russian President’s Office.

Putin highlighted the importance of advancing the Northern Sea Route by characterizing it as a “very promising direction in the field of logistics.”

Russian President also insisted on the necessity of expanding the financial system and utilising more national currencies in mutual settlements . He advocated for a closer examination of investments and investment flows.
