PM Modi announces conclusion of the G20 Summit,suggests a virtual review session in November

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the G20 Summit had come to an end in this location and suggested holding a virtual G20 meeting in November to review the recommendations and proposals made at the foremost forum for global economic cooperation.

“As you all know India has the responsibility of G20 presidency till November 2023. In these two days, all of you gave a lot of suggestions and placed proposals. It is our duty to see how faster progress can be achieved on these,” PM Modi said.
“I propose that at the end of November, we hold a virtual session of G20. We can review the topics decided in this Summit, in that virtual session. I hope you all will connect in the virtual session. With this, I declare the conclusion of the G20 Summit,” he added.

PM Modi gave Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva the ceremonial gavel of the Group of 20 presidency before announcing the summit’s conclusion.

“I congratulate Brazilian President and my friend Lula da Silva and hand over the gavel of Presidency,” PM Modi said.

Prior to the third session of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received saplings from Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Brazil will assume the G20 presidency after India, who held it last year when Indonesia was in office. At the G20 Summit in Bali last December, India assumed the G20 presidency, which it will hold through the end of November.

On Saturday, the first day of the Summit, the G20 leaders endorsed the New Delhi Declaration. On Sunday morning, the G20 leaders went to Rajghat to honor Mahatma Gandhi.
