PM cancels virtual rallies, to campaign physically on 14, 16-17 Feb in Punjab

Soon after the announcement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Punjab on February 14, 16 and 17, a list of union ministers came to the fore who would be holding rallies in the state for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah would rally in Patiala, Ludhiana and Sunam on February 13. While Prime Minister’s rallies in Jalandhar, Pathankot and Abohar will cover the three regions of Doaba, Majha and Malwa.

Cancelling the virtual rally to be held on Wednesday for 27 Assembly seats of Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Bathinda, the BJP said PM Modi would hold an election campaign in Jalandhar on February 14.

Modi had started a series of virtual rallies on Tuesday for the constituencies of Ludhiana and Ferozepur. Although arrangements had been made for his next virtual rallies on Wednesday, it was announced that Modi would visit Punjab for a physical rally.

State BJP general secretary Subash Sharma said PM Modi would address the second rally in Pathankot on February 16 and third one in Abohar on February 17.

On the other hand, senior BJP leadership will be addressing 10 rallies as campaigning gets its momentum. “BJP national president JP Nadda, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Minister VK Singh will address 10 rallies in the coming days before the Prime Minister’s visit,” said BJP state general secretary Jeevan Gupta.

The first rally by Nadda will be held on February 12 in Balachaur in support of the party candidate and at 12.45 pm on the same day, he will address a rally in Ropar. Later in the day, he will hold rallies in Ghanaur and Rajpura.

Haryana CM Khattar will hold rallies in Gill, Jagraon and Kapurthala while VK Singh will address rallies in Amritsar and Baba Bakala.
