Former External Affairs Minister for state and Member Parliament Patiala Preneet Kaur urged the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to ensure safe passage back home of Patiala’s youngster stuck in Ukraine war.
In her appeal for help Preneet Kaur said, “Gurpreet Singh son of Naib Singh of village Dakala falling in my Patiala district went to Russia on a tourist visa in January and is among one of the seven Indian nationals who were captured by the Russian forces and handed them over to military officers, who forcibly recruited them into the army to fight against Ukraine, amid the war.”
She further said, “Gurpreet’s family belongs to an economically weaker background and he had gone to Russia in a hope to get a job as a cook or a driver. His family came and met me and asked me for help to safely bring back their son home. Recently a video of these seven boys has also been doing the rounds wherein they are asking to be rescued.”
The Patiala MP further said, “I urge our Hon’ble External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to immediately intervene and take up the matter with the Russian authorities to ensure the safe passage back home of all the 7 boys.”The Patiala MP has also written a letter to the External Affairs Minister requesting the same.
