Parliament Monsoon session, Day 6: I.N.D.I.A alliance MPs to wear black attire to protest over Manipur

To express their outrage over the situation in Manipur, all members of parliament from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) will attend parliament wearing black clothing. Congress and other opposition parties have been calling for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement and engage in a thorough discussion of the circumstances in Manipur. Since the start of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 20, they have turned to protests and sloganeering in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, forcing adjournments of the two Houses.

In the meantime, on Thursday in Parliament, the floor leaders of the opposition parties will meet with Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, to discuss crucial issues. On Wednesday, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla accepted the no-confidence motion against the government introduced by Congressman Gaurav Gogoi on behalf of the I.N.D.I.A alliance of opposition parties. The Speaker inquired about the number of members who supported the motion after Gogoi moved it.

It remains to be seen whether the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will specify the date and time of the debate over the no-confidence motion passed against the Central Government by the I.N.D.I.A alliance.
