An infiltrator from Pakistan was caught crossing the Indian border on July 16 at 11 am in the Sri Ganga Nagar district of Rajasthan. The intruder has been identified as Rizwan Ashraf and came allegedly to kill former Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma
A team of IB, RAW, and Military Intelligence is interrogating him. During the interrogation, the intruder accepted the intention of killing Nupur Sharma.
Shri Ganganagar SP Anand Sharma said that inquiries are being continued. The intruder said he wanted to kill the suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma because she remarked on Prophet Mohammad.
A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer informed, “We have handed him over to local police for further investigation. He was produced before a magistrate, from where he was sent to eight days of police custody. We have informed the concerned intelligence agencies about him.”
Moreover, Ashraf told during interrogation that after coming to India, he planned to go to Ajmer Dargah from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, and after offering Chadar there, he would have killed Nupur Sharma.
However, an 11-inch-long knife, religious books, clothes, food and sand in the bag were recovered from the arrested Pakistani intruder. It is also learned that Ashraf has studied till 8th standard and knows Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi languages.
