PAKISTANI DRONE SHOT DOWN; STICKY BOMBS, GRENADES RECOVERED

In another major success, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday foiled Pakistan’s major attempt of disturbing peace in the region by smuggling sticky bomb and UBGL grenade in Hiranagar sector along the international border area of district Kathua in Jammu.

On Sunday morning at 9 am an alert Jammu and Kashmir police spotted a Hexa copter drone flying over Hariya Chak village coming from Pakistan side towards highway.

Immediately after they spotted the drone, cops opened about 12 t0 15 round fire and shot it down. During the search operation they found three packets of payload attached with hexacopter.

For further searches, Bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to spot. While scanning pay load they recovered seven magnetic bombs and Sticky bombs and seven UBGL grenades.

While speaking to The Daily Guardian, Romesh Kotwal, SSP Kathua said, “We already had intelligence inputs that Pakistan could try to push in the weapon and terrorist by using tunnel and drone from across

the international border.

Today when our cops deployed in the said area they spotted the movement of drone which they brought down and have recovered seven magnetic bombs which easily can be used to target vehicles and seven UBGL grenades attached with drones in three packets”, said Kotwal.

Police has lodged an FIR and started further investigations to unearth the recievers network in the area as the drone dropping incidents are continuously on the rise along the international border.

Sources say that the sticky bombs could have been used by the terrorists to carry out attack on the upcoming Amarnath yatra.

The terror outfits have been carrying out such sticky bombs attacks in various places and now the trend is slowly picking up in Jammu and Kashmir.

Last month the Jammu and Kashmir police recovered two sticky bombs planted on the Jammu Srinagar national highway near Batra Hospital, however, their timely detection averted a major tragedy.

This year the Amarnath yatra poses a major security challenge for the security establishment as various terror outfits including the resistance front and People’s Anti Fascist Front has also issued threat warning to the Amarnath yatris.

The authorities expect that around eight lakh pilgrims would undertake the yatra this year.

Terror outfits have said that such a huge number of yatris were intended to carry out demographic changes in Kashmir Valley, hence, they would be targeting the yatra.
