Over 3,000 Families Of Covid Victims Yet To Receive Promised Financial Aid From Haryana

Although the third wave of coronavirus is showing a declining trend, several patients lost their lives so far. In a bid to help the family members of the deceased, the Haryana government had announced a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 under the Disaster Management Act.

As many as 10,568 patients died so far due to the virus in the state. Following this, the government had invited applications from the family members of the deceased so that they can be provided with timely financial assistance. A total of 10,967 applications were received from the parents or the family members of the deceased and out of this, several applications were not found fit for the financial assistance which led to rejection.

The financial assistance has been provided to only 6,925 family members of the victims while 3,145 family members were deprived of the compensation.

As many 897 applications were rejected as they could not meet the set parameters for giving compensation. Out of the total deceased patients, 1170, 1004 and 737 hailed from Hisar, Gurugram and Faridabad, respectively. Maximum applications were received from Hisar, Gurugram and Faridabad.

According to the data, 442 candidates from Hisar, followed by 322 from Gurugram and 243 from Jind were not given financial assistance so far. A total of 897 applications for compensation had been rejected by the government as these were not found fit for the same. A string of applicants failed to meet the criteria.
