The National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tarun Chugh, criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly promoting anti-national sentiments in the state due to political reasons. Chugh condemned the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s statement in the Assembly, where he suggested that Punjab could be excluded from the national anthem. Chugh demanded the withdrawal of the remarks made by the Chief Minister in the legislative assembly.
Chugh emphasized that the national anthem has been a source of national pride since independence. He urged that the comments made by the Chief Minister should be expunged from the assembly records. According to Chugh, the state government has failed to safeguard the interests of the farmers, and now it is attempting to shift responsibility to the central government. He pointed out that the central government has provided adequate funds to Punjab for the management of paddy straw, guiding the state government for this purpose. However, the state government has been ineffective in implementing necessary measures, leading farmers to protest on the roads again.
He further stated that if Haryana can provide MSP for 14 crops, there is no reason why the Punjab government cannot implement the same in the state.
