OP Sihag, the former urban district president of Jannayak Janata Party District Panchkula, expressed concern over the recent adverse weather conditions in Haryana, particularly in Panchkula. Heavy rains, hailstorms, and strong winds over the past two days have inflicted substantial damage on wheat, mustard crops, and seasonal vegetables in various regions.
Taking swift action, the state government has issued directives to provide immediate relief, prompting administrative officers to assess the situation.
Sihag highlighted that Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, in his role as the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, has extended the ongoing special Girdawari until March 15. Additionally, instructions have been given to Deputy Commissioners and officials of the Revenue Department across the state to conduct on-site evaluations promptly. The aim is to compile comprehensive reports on the crop damage for swift government intervention, ensuring affected farmers receive timely compensation for their losses due to this natural disaster.
Requesting the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula District to adhere to the Haryana Government’s orders, Sihag urged Tehsildars, Patwaris, and Agriculture Department officials to initiate the special Girdawari process immediately. This would enable an accurate assessment of the crop damage suffered by farmers in the district, ensuring prompt guidelines for relief efforts. Furthermore, Sihag called upon farmers affected by the adverse weather conditions to utilize the government’s e-damage recovery portal. By uploading complete details of the damage incurred by their crops, farmers can facilitate government assistance and expedite the relief process.
