Online monitoring introduced to identify littering offenders

The Heritage Municipal Corporation has initiated online monitoring of individuals dumping garbage on city roads. This online monitoring system is set to cover all 250 wards in the city, and if successful, similar systems may be implemented in major cities throughout the state. The initiative is part of the city’s broader cleanliness system.

The Integrated Control and Command Centre has become the hub for monitoring the cleanliness system, with the entire process being shown to the public, including business owners and city representatives. Public opinion and suggestions will be sought before strict actions, such as issuing challans, are implemented against those littering.

T. Ravikant, Secretary of Urban Development and Local Self Government (UDH and LSG) observed the online monitoring system and emphasized the need to discuss and raise awareness among the public and business community before taking stringent actions. Suresh Ola, Director of the Directorate of Local Bodies (DLB), also inspected the Control and Command Centre. The online monitoring of the cleanliness system is expected to commence next month.
