Norah Jones announces her ninth studio album ‘Visions’

Norah Jones, the acclaimed American singer-songwriter and pianist, has revealed details about her upcoming ninth studio album, ‘Visions,’ and dropped the music video for its lead single, ‘Running,’ as per reports from People. The Grammy winner shared insights into the 12-track record, explaining, “The reason I called the album Visions is because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or in that moment right before sleep.” Jones, 44, described how ‘Running’ was inspired during that drowsy state when one is half-asleep and suddenly awakened.

Collaborating extensively with producer and multi-instrumentalist Leon Michels, Jones emphasized the rawness and spontaneity of the creative process, stating, “I like the rawness between Leon and me, the way it sounds kind of garage-y but also kind of soulful, because that’s where he’s coming from, but also not overly perfected.” The album features contributions from Trumpet Player Dave Guy, bassist Jesse Murphy, and drummers Brian Blade and Homer Steinweiss. ‘Visions’ marks Jones’ first full-length release since ‘I Dream of Christmas’ in 2021.

Scheduled for release on March 8 via Blue Note Records, ‘Visions’ will be accompanied by a North American tour starting in May. Ticket details can be found on Norah Jones’ official website.

Reflecting on her debut album ‘Come Away with Me,’ released two decades ago and earning her five Grammy Awards, Jones, in a 2022 People interview, acknowledged the mixed emotions from that time. Despite the challenges, she emphasized the importance of making music from the heart and not succumbing to the pressure of replicating past success. “Trying to stay on top can be exhausting, and I never wanted that for myself,” she remarked, adding that she focused on playing the music she genuinely wanted to create. Jones has since earned four more Grammys for subsequent releases, demonstrating her commitment to authentic musical expression, as reported by People.
