NMMC empowers citizens to shape next civic budget

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is urging citizens to actively participate in shaping the civic budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. Under the visionary initiative ‘My City My Economic Resolution’ led by NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar, residents’ opinions will be considered to draft a comprehensive budget, making Navi Mumbai one of the country’s wealthiest civic bodies.
Narvekar emphasized the importance of citizen involvement in decision-making, especially concerning budgetary allocations for developmental projects. The ‘My City My Economic Resolution’ initiative aims to enhance basic civic amenities based on the valuable input of the city’s beneficiaries. Narvekar envisions making Navi Mumbai a highly livable and top-rated city for its residents.
As part of this initiative, NMMC will incorporate citizens’ opinions into upcoming financial resolutions, focusing on improving the city’s infrastructure. Residents can share their views and suggestions through the My City My Economic Resolution campaign on the NMMC website www.nmmc.gov.in. Officials encourage citizens to submit their opinions and demands for enhancing the city’s infrastructure and happiness index through this proactive step.
Kiran Shivthare, a resident, praised NMMC’s proactive approach, stating, “It allows taxpayers to voice various demands, contributing to the city’s development.”
Citizens can email their opinions in PDF format to cafo@nmmc.gov.in or send written submissions via postal mail to the NMMC headquarters, specifying ‘My City My Economic Resolution’ and the relevant department’s name on the envelope. Submissions should be within 1,000 words and are accepted until December 15.
