NMC chair urges promotion of minorities schemes

National Minorities Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura has called for greater promotion of schemes aimed at uplifting and supporting minority communities. Speaking at a review meeting of the Prime Minister’s new 15-point program at Hamir Bhawan, Lalpura emphasized the importance of involving religious institutions in propagating these schemes.
He noted that these institutions could play a crucial role in maintaining harmony in society and ensuring that minorities are included in the mainstream. To achieve this, Lalpura suggested that committees be formed at the district and sub-divisional level, with regular meetings held to discuss the schemes.
Lalpura explained that the 15-point program aims to provide minorities with education, employment, housing, and other basic facilities. He encouraged individuals to share any issues or suggestions regarding the program’s implementation with the Minorities Commission, which would then convey them to the central government.
Lalpura also urged government employees to work at the grassroots level, emphasizing that a single initiative could make a significant difference in the lives of ordinary people. He noted that in some areas, minorities faced challenges in acquiring land for cemeteries or obtaining minority certificates, and these issues should be resolved immediately. Finally, Lalpura highlighted the potential for Himachal Pradesh to develop its rare herb production and tourism industry, encouraging steps to be taken in this direction. Overall, his remarks underscored the importance of supporting and uplifting minority communities, while also emphasizing the crucial role of religious institutions and government employees in achieving these goals.
