Nitish-KCR joint show in Bihar; Pawar says ‘Opposition must unite’

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday shared stage with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and lashed out at the Centre for the “faulty policies” including inflation and said the BJP is insensitive towards the needs of the state.

In another development in Mumbai, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar advocated the unity of Opposition parties for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said he will consider contesting elections together under the Common Minimum Program.

In Patna, two Opposition leaders, KCR and Nitish, found a reason to come together when they provided financial assistance to the families of Indian soldiers who lost their lives in Galwan

Valley. KCR and Nitish along with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav came down heavily on the Centre.

KCR said the Centre has not even fulfilled its promise of granting special status to Bihar. He also said, “Before the Modi-led BJP government, Rupee never depreciated so much. Why do farmers have to protest for over a year? The country faced losses in every sector due to the failures of the policies implemented by the Centre.”

KCR went ahead and criticised the BJP’s mission of eliminating all opposition parties from the political arena. “It is a shame that the ruling party says that they will finish all other political parties,” he added.

In Mumbai, Sharad Pawar too took a dig at the Centre over the misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Pawar said, “BJP has started a new program. On the basis of money, ED, and CBI, the government is being brought down. The same is being tried in Jharkhand just like it was done in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. We have to see how we will face this attempt of the BJP. Opposition must unite.”

Lauding Bihar Chief Minister for breaking alliance with NDA, the NCP chief said the latter has taken a good political decision. “Nitish Kumar is our old colleague and he has taken a good political decision,” added Pawar.
