On Sunday, the state government announced the appointment of Nitin Kareer as the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. Currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Kareer is a seasoned 1988 batch IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre.
At the age of 57, Kareer takes over the responsibilities from his predecessor, Manoj Saunik. Commencing his tenure on Sunday evening, Kareer is set to serve as Chief Secretary until March 2024, coinciding with his retirement on March 31, 2024.
