NIA raids in 6 states suspect arrested from Deoband

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday conducted raids in six states, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar and Gujarat, to trace the modules of the recently nabbed terrorists. The investigating agency searched 13 premises of suspects in cases related to ISIS activities.

Moreover, several other suspects have also been taken into custody during the raid. Based on confidential information, NIA and UP ATS arrested a suspected terrorist during a raid from a madrasa in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. He was identified as Farooq and he hails from Karnataka. Farooq was in touch with the IS module. According to sources, the officials said that the accused was on the radar of the NIA for a long time. It is being told that this terrorist is also related to the bomb blasts in Syria.

Meanwhile, at present, the team has taken him with them and he is being questioned. According to the information, raids were conducted in two districts of Maharashtra Nanded and Kolhapur after getting inputs related to IS.

This is the agency’s second major action in a month. With this, the NIA also raided Bhopal and Raisen, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, the investigating agency conducted raids in the Bharuch, Surat, Navsari and Ahmedabad districts of Gujarat.

However, raids were also conducted in Bhatkal and Tumkur towns in the Araria district of Bihar, Karnataka. Significantly, the case was registered by the NIA on June 25 under sections 153A and 153B of the IPC and sections 18, 18B, 38, 39 and 40 of the UA (P) Act.
