A LinkedIn user shared his distressing incident which involved an Ola cab driver allegedly assaulting in front of his 6-year-old son. The man, Kiran Verma, said that he went with his son, in the cab to pick up someone from the airport.
Kiran detailed the encounter saying that the driver insisted on cancelling the ride. The driver further asked to pay in cash, which led to a confrontation. The confrontation escalated when the driver took a different route.
Following this, Kiran asked the driver but the driver started shouting and Kiran’s son got scared. Kiran called the Ola helpline and the police and stood outside the cab.
The Ola support executive asked Kiran to not pay the driver and when Kiran refused, things took a violent turn as the driver came out of the car and slapped Kiran in front of his son.
The driver eventually slapped him again when he heard Kiran speaking to the Ola support executive over loud loudspeaker. Ola’s response to this incident was allegedly inadequate. Kiran in his post on social media asked other commuters to reconsider using Ola and look for alternatives like Uber.
The post has sparked widespread criticism towards Ola and has led to a debate on social media platforms with many users expressing solidarity with Kiran.
