Nearly 2,000 citizens of Haryana stranded in Ukraine, families worried

Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the problems continue to increase for India along with Haryana as nearly 18000 Indians and around 2000 Haryanvi citizens are stranded in Ukraine, and are awaiting evacuation. It has come to light that more than 50 students who were studying medicine in Ukraine have returned, however, a lot of students are still stuck in Kyiv.

The stranded Haryanavis in Ukraine hail from different districts of the state including Kaithal, Kurukshetra, and Rewari, etc. Their parents and close ones continue to appeal to the government as well as other officials to come forward for help. In a bid to help the Indian citizens stuck in Ukraine, the state government has set up a control room and issued a WhatsApp number to contact and get any kind of assistance. Manohar Lal, the Chief Minister of Haryana, said that he appealed to the Indian citizens stuck in Ukraine to be calm and not to panic. “The state government in collaboration with the Central government is putting its best to help out citizens,” he said.

Meanwhile, the opposition continuously demanded that the government should come forward to bring the citizens back. Congress stalwart Randeep Surjewala took a dig at the state government saying that nearly 18000 Indians and around 2000 Haryanavis are stuck in Ukraine and “I have written a letter to the Chief Minister. But contrary to it, the government kept itself away from providing any kind of help to needy persons which clearly indicates the casual approach of the ruling faction towards such a serious issue.”

Besides, Balraj Kundu, an independent MLA from Mahem also has appealed to the government to make required arrangements to bring the citizens back.
