Nana Patole promises resolution of reservation issue if Congress assumes power

Nana Patole, the President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, vowed to address the state’s reservation concerns should the Congress come to power. While addressing reporters at Tilak Bhavan, Patole lambasted the current government for its failure to adequately address the drought situation, questioned safety and corruption issues related to the Samruddhi Highway, and critiqued the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) handling of reservation matters.
Patole accused the BJP of making empty promises regarding reservations for Maratha, OBC, and Dhangar communities since 2014. He pledged that if the Congress secures power, they will conduct a caste-wise census to resolve the reservation matter. He contended that the BJP government’s unfulfilled commitments have sowed discord among communities.
Expressing his concerns about severe drought conditions in the state, particularly in Marathwada, Patole accused the government of failing to address the issue earnestly in cabinet meetings. He emphasized the dire need for drinking water and animal fodder, asserting that the government’s inaction has inflicted suffering on farmers, laborers, and the public.
Patole also brought attention to a contentious land scam detailed in former IPS officer Meera Borvankar’s book.
