Mother alleges misconduct in handling daughter’s death at Malad dispensary

The mother of a 20-year-old woman, whose mysterious death occurred on December 28 at a dispensary in Malad, has raised concerns about the Kurar police’s handling of the case. The deceased’s mother, represented by advocate Ashok Saraogi, has written to the Kurar police, urging a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Advocate Saraogi, in his letter, highlighted that despite multiple visits to the police station, the mother’s concerns remained unaddressed. Furthermore, the police officer purportedly recorded her statement in Marathi, a language she is not proficient in.
The deceased was employed at a dispensary in Malad and resided at National Chawl, Kranti Nagar, Akurli Road, Kandivali East. The dispensary was operated by a 40-year-old doctor, Amol Hemale.
Upon learning of a disturbance near the dispensary, the girl’s mother hurried to the location, discovering her daughter hanging. However, she vehemently rejected the suicide theory, contending that Dr Hemale might have played a role in her daughter’s alleged murder, potentially with assistance from associates.
Advocate Saraogi emphasized that while working at the clinic, the girl had reported the doctor’s inappropriate behavior to her mother on multiple occasions. Despite temporarily leaving her job due to misconduct, she returned after Dr Hemale offered an apology.
The doctor had also taken control of the girl’s phone, diverting her calls to his mobile device. Allegedly, he subjected her to physical abuse based on intercepted suspicious calls.
The letter further revealed that the girl had disclosed to her mother about the doctor’s influential connections within the police force and local criminal circles.
