In Haryana, pensions are now being granted to eligible individuals based on data registered in the Family ID (PPP) system. Unmarried and widowed individuals (whose wives have passed away) in Karnal district are now eligible for pension benefits. In the first phase, 688 unmarried and 187 widowed individuals in the district have been identified. They will receive a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 starting from February. To be eligible for unmarried pension, one must be 45 years or older with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh.
For widows, the age requirement is 40 years or older, and the annual income should be up to Rs 3 lakh. According to PPP data from the last 6 months, pensions have been approved for 9,445 elderly individuals, and 2,147 are still in process. Pensions have been granted to 175 disabled individuals, and 56 are in the process.
Officials mention that if someone meets the eligibility criteria, they can visit the CSC center to verify their age in the Family ID. If any issues persist, they can verify their account number. This enables all eligible individuals to benefit from the government scheme from the comfort of their homes.
