Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is actively working to prevent her from entering Parliament, claiming they fear her potential influence and opposition to their agenda.
Speaking to reporters in Bijbehara, south Kashmir, Mehbooba accused the BJP of employing various tactics to keep her away from Parliament. She asserted that her presence in Parliament would pose challenges for the BJP due to her strong stance on issues affecting the region.
“BJP is using its full might and resources to keep me away from Parliament. They are well aware that if I reach Parliament, it will create trouble for them,” Mehbooba stated.
Earlier in the day, Mehbooba visited the grave of her father, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, in Bijbehara, where she offered Fateha. Expressing her emotional connection to the area, she described south Kashmir as her homeland and emphasized the challenges she faces in her political journey without her father. “Our identity and constitutional rights are under assault,” she remarked, highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba expressed hope in the support of the people and anticipated a strong voter turnout for the PDP in the upcoming elections. “I always stood with my people in difficult times, whether in south Kashmir or Pir Panchal. I hope they won’t let me down,” she emphasized.
Regarding her party, Mehbooba accused the BJP of attempting to weaken the PDP, recognizing it as the credible voice representing the concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The BJP is using all methods to dismantle my party, PDP. They know it is the only credible voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir that raises their concerns with full vigor,” Mehbooba asserted, concluding her remarks on the BJP’s motivations.
Mehbooba Mufti’s statements underscore the ongoing political tensions in Jammu and Kashmir as parties gear up for upcoming elections amid heightened regional dynamics.
