A man in Meerut has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, whom he believed to be involved in an extramarital affair. The accused, identified as Vishal, reportedly strangled his wife, Gunjan, in a fit of anger upon discovering her alleged infidelity with a youth from their neighborhood.
Meerut Superintendent of Police, Ayush Vikram Singh, revealed that Vishal not only strangled his wife but also went on to hide her body approximately 20 kilometers away in a forest. The accused is said to have used an e-rickshaw to transport the body discreetly.
To mislead authorities and divert attention from his involvement, Vishal filed a missing person report with the police, pretending to be concerned about his wife’s whereabouts. Initially treating the case as an anonymous murder mystery, the police began unraveling the accused’s intricate plan upon discovering the woman’s body.
The Meerut SP informed that the accused has been taken into custody, and additional individuals are being questioned in connection with the case. Further details on the incident are currently awaited.
