A devastating fire broke out at the Makkar Cotton Factory on Muktsar Road in Malout, reducing nearly 140 bales of cotton to ashes. The owner of the factory, Surinder Singh, estimates a loss of around Rs 35 lakhs.
The fire erupted around 5 AM on Sunday, and the cause is yet to be determined. Upon receiving information about the fire, the firefighting department rushed to the scene with water tankers, managing to control the flames after considerable effort.
Hardeep Singh, the Fire Officer, reported that they received the information promptly and, along with the team, reached the site with water tankers. Another tanker was requested as the fire intensified. After rigorous efforts, the fire was brought under control.
Surinder Singh, the factory owner, explained that they process raw cotton to produce cotton for further sale. Employees were working when suddenly a fire broke out. The fire spread rapidly, taking a severe form.
Upon being informed by the workers, Surinder Singh immediately reached the factory and informed the firefighting team, who efficiently extinguished the flames. He revealed that approximately 135 to 140 bales of cotton were reduced to ashes, resulting in a loss of around Rs 35 lakhs.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation will be carried out to determine the factors leading to this massive blaze.
